Abstract:In order to improve the metallurgical performance of Australian magnetite pellets, the influence of[w(MgO)] on the compressive strength and metallurgical performances of the oxidized pellets was investigated. The results showed that with the increase of[w(MgO),]wet drop number and the shock temperature of green pellets increased, while the compressive strength of green pellets changed slightly. The compressive strength of preheated pellets and oxidized pellets decreased significantly as increasing[w(MgO),]while the metallurgical performances, such as RI (reducibility index), RDI (reduction degradation index), RSI (reduction swelling index) and softening and melting properties were improved. The content of monticellite and magnesium ferrite increased when[w(MgO)]increased, and Fe2+ could be easily replaced by Mg2+ to form the solid solution containing FeO and MgO, which restrain the swelling and degradation behaviors.
