Analysis on heat preservation of multifunctional hot metal ladle

Abstract:In order toreduce the temperature drop of molten ironand thecost of production during molten iron transportation,the comprehensive insulation effect of ladle with lid was analyzed quantitatively. In the condition with or without lid, the simulations of unloaded ladle towards the ladle with 230 t of molten iron in 5 h and loaded ladle in 1 h were carried out via mathematical model and numerical calculation. The result showed that transportation of unloaded ladle for 5 h, the insulation lid couldincrease the overall temperature of inner ladlewall ,increase by 194 K at most on the edge of ladle,and meanwhile reduce the temperature difference between to pand bottom (140 K).The insulation lid couldimprovethe heat condition of unloaded ladle before the ladle picked up molten iron and reduce the heat storage the ladle refractory required when the ladle picked up the molten iron. In the 1 h transportation of loaded ladle, the insulation lid couldeffectively reduce the thermal heat dissipation and thus decrease the temperature drop of molten iron about 13 K. Finally, the simulation experiment result and the field measured data were comparatively analyzed. The relative error was less than 5%, which demonstrated the accuracyof the model.
