Abstract:The BFconverter route of steelmaking is a chemical process of iron and coal. Sulfur dioxide is released in sintering process which can be absorbed by pyrolusite and mild manganese to produce manganese sulfate. The experiments of removal of SO2 with pyrolusite and mild manganese were performed, and the pH scale of pulp was controlled; utilizing the oxidability of MnO2 and reducibility of SO2, the pyrolusite pulp was put into the absorption tower of padding. The above90% absorptivity of flue dust indicated that wet dust collection was available to this technique, in which the absorptivity of SO2 was above 95%, and the byproduct technical grade manganese sulfate was produced. The technique is proved to be a new technology on:removal of SO2, for waste treatment.
