Abstract: The microstructure and mechanical properties of 20MnSi steel with different Si, Mn content and selftempering temperature were analyzed. The results indicate that the outside structure of 20MnSi steel is refined as selftempering temperature increases, which make the strength and ductility of 20MnSi steel wellmatched; the quenching degree of 20MnSi steel increases as the content of Si and Mn rises, which enhances the mechanical properties of 20MnSi steel dramatically. In such a way, it might be expected to manufacture HRB400 barl through TMCP, proper Si, Mn content and high selftempering temperature without adding micro alloying elements such as Nb and V.
