Abstract:The process of the phase separation and sulfur’s existence as well as the sulfphase forming mechanism in solid refining slag were studied by means of micro and thermodynamics analysis. In the conditions of rapid cooling, the phases were separated completely, the forming sequence of phases was related to their thermodynamic equilibrium temperature, and the calciumaluminate was formed as basic phase due to its lower melting temperature. The forming mechanism of phases accorded with CaOSiO2Al2O3 phase diagram. The sulfur was enriched in the basic phase during separation forming complex phases at the boundaries with other elements of low melting temperature. The S2- and Ca2+ with lower electrostatic potential in complex sulfphases formed CaS, which carries replacement reaction with the basic phase to form calciumaluminate sulphide.
