Abstract:For existing coking coal resources of Xuanhua I/S Group Co., Ltd. cokeoven plant of several kinds of single coal such as lean coal, 1/3 coking coal, slightly caking coal, and No.2 coking coal, the cokeability including ash content Ad, the volatiles Vdaf, the sulfur content St,d, the shrinkage index X, and the coal caking index G with addition of modified coal tar pitch was studied. The results show that the ash content and the sulfur content won’t change a lot when the quantity of the modified coal tar pitch added to the single coal was less than 5%, and won’t influence the coal caking indexes of slightly caking coal, 1/3 coking coal, and lean coal. The plastometer thickness of slight caking coal and lean coal were not influenced either. The plastometer thickness of No.2 coking coal and 1/3 coking coal increased dramatically by adding modified coal tar pitch, meanwhile, the coal caking indexes increased dramatically. The ash content of lean coal and slight caking coal decreased, the sulfur content of No.2 coking coal increased dramatically, the plastometer thickness of lean coal increased dramatically, the coking coal indexes of slight caking coal, 1/3 coking coal, and lean coal increased dramatically when the quantity of modified coal tar pitch increased. The relation of quantity of modified coal tar pitch and the shrinkage index of coal is very complex. The shrinkage index of slightly caking coal and 1/3 coking coal reduced to a minimum when modified coal tar pitch was 3%, and then increased as the modified coal tar pitch increased further. The coking coal index decreased again when the modified coal tar pitch was 5%6%. The shrinkage index of No.2 coking coal and lean coal won’t have a big change when the quantity of modified coal tar pitch was less than 5%,until it increased to more than 5%.
