Development of Compound Passivated Magnisium Powder for Hot Metal Predesulfurization at Baosteel

Abstract:Passivated magnisium powder is widely used in hot metal predesulfurization. A new compound passivated magnisium powder was developed with a new process. The powder of which burning point is 650 ℃, mean repose angle is 26° and average combustion inhibiting time is 25.7 s,is used for hot metal pretreatment at Baosteel,with good effects. The sulfur content of hot metal after predesulfurization is decreased to lower than 0.003%, and the lowest sulfur content is 0.001%.
