Abstract:The changes of decarburization process, [O] content in molten steel, vacuum vessel pressure, waste gas flow rate and composition and temperature drop of molten steel during conventional RH and RH-TOP treatment of IF steel had been investigated through industrial experiments. According to the different apparent decarburization rate constants, the decarburization processes of the two refining methods presented “two-stage style” and “three-stage style”, respectively, which could produce IF steel under 15×10-6 in carbon within 20 minutes stably. With O2 blowing, the pressure of vacuum pressure drop platform was higher and the time of platform was longer, which was harmful to increase decarburization rate. The [O] content at the decarburization final point rose when the quantity of blew O2 was excessive. The converter tapping temperature could be reduced 20~30℃ by the heat compensation of RH-TOP decarburization with O2 blowing.
