Abstract:Change in high temperature yield strength and Young’s modulus of vanadiumbearing and vanadiumfree medium carbon steels during phase transformation were studied with DT1000 thermodilatometer and Gleeble1500 simulator. The results showed that the yield strength of test steels increases sharply with temperature decreasing and austenite decomposition to low temperature phases. The yield strength of vanadium bearing steel improves at lower temperature because of low phase transformation starting temperature. The Young’s modulus of two steels changes strongly during phase transformation and the peak and valley of modulus are observed during ferrite and pearlite transformation.
