Abstract:The morphology and composition of sulfide inclusions in pipeline steel were analyzed systematically. The effect of calcium treatment was also evaluated according to modification index of oxide and sulfide. After the calcium treatment, no manganese sulfide in grain boundaries was observed. The small amount of sulfide were classified into three types, (Ca,Mn)S complex inclusions, CaOAl2O3CaS, in which the CaS is uniformly dispersed, and CaOAl2O3CaS, in which the CaS is appeared as a distinct phase around the nuclei. These inclusions are beneficial to improvement of HIC resistance. Under current technology, the adding 0.7 kg/t calciumsilicon wire is not enough to modify, the inclusions, thus CaSi wire consumption should be increased appropriately.
