Abstract:According to the microalloying and strengthening and toughening principles of steel, a theoretical calculation method and optimum alloying design to determine titanium content in carbonizing steel were proposed. The theoretical calculation and the experimental results showed that decreasing rationally the titanium content in carbonizing steel can effectively decrease or avoid the liquid precipitation of titanium nitride so as to improve the mechanical properties especially the contact fatigue property of the steel, while the function of controlling austenite grain size during carbonization is not effected.
