Abstract:Short Stroke Control(SSC) is the main method to optimize the shape of strip ends and reduce metal loss in hot roughing, but the traditional broken line SSC model was not effective enongh at Baosteel.A 3D thermalmechanical coupling Finite Element Method (FEM) model for edging and horizontal rolling was established, and used to investigate the total roughing process, the results were validated by practice. Using polynomial theory, a polynomial SSC model was established according to the curves of width deviation of the strip head and tail through FEM simulation, the production results showed that the yield has been largely improved since adoption of this model.
