Abstract:In order to improve the recovery ratio of metal elements like Fe and Ni from Philippines nickeliferous laterite and melting conditions, orthogonal experiments were designed to investigate the effects of temperature, addition of carbon and slag basicity on the recovery results and the content of Fe and Ni in the metal. It shows that the temperature is more significant than the carbon dosage and slag basicity on the recovery ratio of Fe and Ni. The recovery ratio of Fe and Ni is higher, which are close to the theoretical values calculated with Factsage, when the temperature is 1550℃,basicity is 1.1 and the carbon dosage is 6.0%. On the other hand basicity is more significant than the temperature and the carbon dosage on the Fe and Ni content in the metal. The Fe and Ni content in the metal is higher when basicity is 1.1 and the temperature is 1550℃.
