Research of Effect of Deoxidation Process on Nonmetallic Inclusions in Silicon Steel Slabs

Abstract:The effect of deoxidation processes (by Al+FeSi and FeSi) on nonmetallic inclusions in silicon steel slabs was investigated. Through reasonable experimental designing and method, including [O] measurement, metallography, SEM and EDS it was shown that the deoxidation capacity of Al+FeSi, compared with that of FeSi was stronger. Furthermore, the Al+FeSi process could decrease the content and size of nonmetallic inclusions remarkably, and the SiOAlMnTiFe inclusions were modified into compound inclusions with Al2O3 less than 5μm in size as the core.
