Abstract:Analysis of factors of oxygen pickup in molten steel and corresponding measures based on experimental data are presented. For oxidizing top slag, the change rate of w([Als]) in the molten steel was ≥20%; but for reducing top slag, the change rate of w([Als]) in the molten steel was ≤10%.The contribution of oxidizing top slag to oxygen pickup is more than that of air suction at the joint point of ladle and tundish.Reduction of slag takeover and modifying top slag can decrease the degree of oxygen pickup in molten steel; the tundish will not become a new source of increasing oxygen by ladle slag.
