Abstract:Based on analysis of metal solidification in molten pool and deformation mechanism,twinroll casting zone can be divided into two calculation zones. Using the NavierStokes equation of hydrodynamics, the rheological properties of liquid and mushy zones was analyzed with stream function, the velocity field in these zones was also established, solid fraction and viscosity models were introduced to deduce the analytic equation of unit pressure distribution in these zones based on velocity boundaries.For solidified zone, the traditional hot rolling model was still used. Therefore the model of rolling force in twinroll strip casting was established, the calculated results agreed with experimental ones well,so it is possible to establish rolling force control strategy for twinroll strip casting.
