Study and Industrial Application of New No.2 BF Drying Process

Abstract:In order to eliminate the internal stress of BF cooling stave, a novel approach to dry the lining and eliminate the casting internal stress simultaneously was developed. A series of hot simulation experiments on an experimental cooling stave for first generation of new No.2 BF were conducted in the laboratory by means of mechanical property tests, Xray stress measurement and microstructure analysis. The results were used for drying process of new No.2 BF. The results of industrial test show that by using the new drying process, the casting stress of cooling stave is reduced by up to 93%, and the mechanical properties of the stave is also improved by 12%.
