Abstract:The austenitic stainless steel with Cu was investigated in terms of antibacterial, corrosion and mechanical properties. The samples were prepared by vacuum melting hot rolling and antibacterial heat treatment followed by cold rolling and short time annealing. The steel exhibited good antibacterial property. As Cu content increases, the antibacterial property and the pitting resistance were improved. But, the strength decreased with increasing Cu content when the Cu content was below 3%. At higher Cu content, the precipitation strengthening dominated, leading to higher strength but lower elongation.
