Abstract:A three-dimensional finite element model of beam blank continuous casting mold is set up by means of ABAQUS software, and the user subroutine is used to apply the thermal boundary condition of the model. The temperature distributions of the continuous casting mold are numerically investigated and an optimized mold is obtained. The effects of different operational parameters, such as casting speed, copper thickness and cooling water velocity, on the temperature distributions of the internal surface of the copper mold are analyzed. The obtained results provide a foundation for the design of near net shape continuous casting mold and the selection of operational parameter in production.
