Abstract:The laminar cooling has affect on the microstructure, property and flatness of strip during the hot rolling production. The temperature field of the hot rolling plain carbon steel and pipeline steel strip with different width and thickness in the conventional laminar cooling condition is calculated and analyzed by MARC finite element method software. The results are shown that: the cooling non-uniformity of strip in width and thickness is enhanced by laminar cooling. The temperature difference of 30℃ between upper and bottom surface results in cooling warp, while X70 steel strip in 12mm thickness cooled by conventional laminar device. The main reason of non-uniform cooling is the structure design of upper and bottom manifold, the upper manifold header designed with transversally uniform water fluid distribution and the bottom header with constant fluid for the strip of all thickness. The upgrade proposal is presented to reduce the non-uniformity due to the laminar cooling.
