Abstract:The finite element method (FEM) model was established to predict the temperature field,shell growth and solid fraction of the heavy rail bloom caster. The theory basis for position determination of final electromagnetic stirrer (F-EMS) and the corresponding continuous casting process parameters was defined. According to the simulation results, the installation position of F-EMS is 11.6m from meniscus which was proved appropriate by pin-shooting experiment and F-EMS practice.
