Abstract:The mechanical properties and microstructures of the TWIP steels subjected to asymmetric rolling (ASR) and post-annealing processes were investigated by means of optical microscope, X ray diffractometer and transmission electron microscope. The results indicate that the strength of the TWIP steel is greatly increased while the ductility is decreased obviously after asymmetrically rolled at 500℃. Such results are ascribed to the combined action of dislocations and twins. The heat treatment after rolling reduces the dislocation density and amount of twins, and consequently leads to the decrease of strength and increase of elongation. After annealing at 600℃ and 700℃, the TWIP steel have good property combination of both strength and ductility. Therefore, the ASR plus post-annealing process was a feasible approach to achieve excellent combinative mechanical properties in TWIP steels.
