Abstract:TMCP experiment of 50-80mm Q345GJC-Z35 steel plates was done on 250mm continuous casting slab at 3800mm heavy plate mill. The appropriate hot rolling and controlled cooling processes were presented. The results show that: according to two -stage rolling process, when the content of carbon is below 0.11% with the addition of small amount of complex elements of Nb, V and Ti, and the steel plate is rolled to two to three times of the thickness of the final product, it is the beginning time for temperature controlled rolling. The start rolling temperature is below 860℃ and the finish rolling temperature is between 820 to 860℃. The mechanical properties of the heavy steel plates with high strength can entirely meet the requirements in GB19879—2005. The average value of reduction of area is above 50%, far exceeding the technical requirements of Z35 steel plates. The steel plates can obtain good combination between strength and toughness. The subsequent heat treatment can be omitted so that the technology procedure is shortened and the production cost is reduced.
