Abstract:The effect of boron and titanium on the microstructure and properties of low carbon Al-killed steel 08Al was studied by adding individual and both. The results show that the yield and tensile strength of 08Al had little change with adding trace (0.002 0%) boron alone, but the yield strength and tensile strength enhanced about 20 MPa with adding 0.057%Ti alone. The strength of 08Al significantly increased with adding both 0.004 8%B and 0.07%Ti, the yield strength value enhanced from 260 to 316 MPa and the tensile strength value enhanced from 363 to 463 MPa. The reason for high strength of 08Al+B+Ti steel is that quasi-polygonal ferrite with high dislocation density is obtained, at the same time, the phase transformation strengthening of fine lamellar pearlite has a certain contribution to the high strength.
