Influence of SiO2 and FeO Contents in Charge on Sinter Strength |

Abstract The influence of composition of charge on sinter strength was studied by means of tumbling test, optical microscopy and Xray diffraction (XRD). The samples were prepared with sintering cup, and the production trial was conducted on Shuigang 65 m2 sintering machine based on the experimental results. It was shown that the SiO2 content has a major effect on the sinter strength. When the SiO2 content was 5.375.67%, the sinter had a higher strength.Both the MgO and FeO contents have some effect on the sinter strength. While the SiO2 content was 4.845.00%, the calcium ferrite was formed by decreasing both w(MgO) and w(FeO) and the sinter strength was improved.
