Abstract The torsional vibration of rolling mill can damage the equipment and production. A mathematical model was built based on the analysis of vibration and it was found that the rolling current is the determining factor of vibration. At Anyang Iron and Steel Company according to field investigations, that the vibration of rolling mill occurs during biting. The simulation following control (SFC) was built with a precise motor model to calculate and compensate set current for eliminating vibration of main driver. The application shows that the SFC is effective for eliminating mill vibration at any frequency, and easy to implement.
