Abstract The ring formation in rotary kiln is a complicated process,which obstructs the development of gratekiln production.In the experiment of ring formation in the acid pellet gas heated rotary kiln, the kiln was divided into three parts,the head of kiln,the middle of kiln and the tail of kiln to study the mechanism and the influencing factors of ring formation.The reasons and the main influencing factors of ring formation in every parts are discussed,and the measures of eliminating ring formation are put forward.
