Abstract Based on highalloy steel continuous rolling production at Special Steel Branch Co. of Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. in Shanghai, a model for coupled thermomechanical analysis for eightpass hot continuous rolling of GH4169 round was built using 3D elasticplastic FEM with ANSYS10.0/LSDYNA, a nonlinear finite element analysis software. The temperature, effective strain and effective strain rate at characteristic points in the crosssection of workpiece were simulated, and the simulated surface temperature was in good agreement with measured one.
