Abstract In order to improve quality of BF burden, by analyzing metallurgical properties of single and mixed burden at Baogang, and comparing them with those of other enterprises, the structure of mixed burden was optimized. The results show that rational ore blending can increase grade and improve metallurgical properties. The sinters produced with optimized burden has good reducibility and reduced powdering ability at low temperature with relative wide melting down region, therefore, content of F, K and Na of the concentrate should be further reduced; the portion of ordinary ores or lump ore from Australia in raw materials should be increased to improve metallurgical properties.
