Role of Shock Wave in Steelmaking of Converter |

Abstract Shock wave is the non-consecutive boundary layer of liquid property in supersonic flow. Airflow pass through the shock wave speed decreased, temperature and pressure rise. Oxygen is blown into converter through ultrasonic jet by Laval nozzle. Loss of shock wave should be decreased when design oxygen lance nozzle and oxygen blowing system. In order to obtain good metallurgical effect, shock wave should be controlled at suitable range at some special blowing process. Nozzle should not be applied if property of nozzle jet deteriorated when it eroded seriously.
