Abstract Based on FEsimulation of temperature field and measured CCT diagram, the microstructure and properties prediction for multistage controlled cooled 20MnSi steel bar were calculated and verified by the measured results in this way. The suitable mathematical models for predicting microstructure and mechanical properties of round bar were obtained. Such prediction models offer the theoretical foundation for the rational estimation of multistage controlled cooling parameters.
