Abstract The representative composition and properties of high manganese steel are presented. The key technologies and difficulties of melting, casting, hotrolling, and coldrolling are described. The progress in these technologies is introduced. The prospect of using thin slab castingrolling and strip casting technologies to produce high manganese steel strip is discussed. The directions of development of high manganese steel strip production in China are proposed.
