Abstract In order to study the deformation and rolling force during finishing of steel flats, an analytical model based on elasticplastic finite element method was established to simulate systematically the whole finishing process. The results show that the simulated deformation and rolling force of steel flats during finishing are in good agreement with the actual ones, offering reference data for the calculation of finishing parameters.
