Abstract The operation data were used to analyze the spring characteristics of 2500 mm plate rolling mill for different workpice width, and to obtain a practical stiffness model. The results show that when the width of rolling piece is larger than the half of roller barrel length, the decrease of the mill stiffness is nonlinear,the more the workpice width, the more attenuation of the mill stiffness is.
