On Energy Utilization in EAF Steelmaking |

Abstract The basic functions of EAF steelmaking and three engineering problems for improving the efficiency of energy transfer including increasing energy supply and power input, improving the efficiency of energy utilization are expatiated. The functions of EAF steelmaking in coordination of all steps in whole steel product manufacture process are discussed. Based on the performance of four domestic largescale EAF steelmakers in the years of 2003 and 2004, it can be concluded that the productivity and power consumption of them have reached international advanced level. But the efficiency of energy and mass transfer is still low and energy saving should be improved in the future.
