Effect of Aluminum on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cr8WMo2V2SiNb Steel |

Abstract Effect of aluminum on microstructure and mechanical properties of Cr8WMo2V2SiNb steel were investigated. The results show that aluminum can refine as-cast microstructure, carbides and grain size. Aluminum also can increase critical point while improving the appearance of ferrite in quenched structure. In addition, aluminum can improve the transformation of retained austenite to martensite and increases the tempered hardness. Moreover, aluminum improves the bending strength and wear resistance in the case of losing little toughness.
