Abstract The mechanical properties, microstructure, precipitates X80 pipeline steel and SSAW pipes were investigated. The average yield strength and tensile strength of X80 were 575 MPa and 660 MPa, the average impact energy was 295 J at 20 ℃,the DWTT average shear area was 98% at 15 ℃.X80 has acicular microstructure, fine grains and dispersed precipitates. The strength of SSAW pipes can meet the requirements for second WestEast Gas Transmission project.
