On-line Monitoring System for Temperature Field and Abnormal Erosion of BF Hearth and Bottom |

Abstract Disadvantages of common methods for erosion monitoring of BF hearth and bottom are analyzed, that “elephant foot shaped” erosion is hard to be accurately diagnosed by 1-D heat transfer model, without latent heat of solidification, or not considering the effects of abnormal conditions on erosion. The 3-D unsteady cylindrical mathematical model for temperature calculating is built with latent heat of hot metal. “Diagnosing knowledge base” is brought in to judge and solve the effects of abnormal conditions on erosion. Then the on-line monitoring system for temperature field and abnormal erosion of BF hearth and bottom is developed, which has been successfully used in BFs of several factories, such as Shougang Steel, Qiangang Steel, Tanggang Steel, Pangang Steel, Changang Steel, and so on. Erosion calculating process, program designing features, detailed functional modules and guiding effects of the system on BF operation are introduced. Calculating results of the model show great correlations with BF’s dissection results.
