Abstract Angang New Steel Co., Ltd. produces tire cord steel wire with hot metal desulphurization, converter steelmaking, LF and VD treatments, bloom casting and hot charge rolling. The size of brittle inclusions in the wire such as Al2O3 and Ti(C,N) and so on is less than 5 μm. The width of plastic inclusions is less than 15 μm. The composition of liquid steel is controlled in a narrow range. Sampling inspection proves segregation in bloom is slight. Wires from different heats have uniform properties. The indexes of decarburization depth, distribution of cementite along grain boundaries and scaling are in accordance with specification. Customer tryout proves tire cord steel wire meets their requirements, and the tire cord steel wire has been put into mass production.
