Abstract The technologyical points of grain refinement and microstructure control of HTP X80 were investigated by means of thermal simulation trial. Austenite recrystallization temperature zone and nonrecrystallization temperature zone were determined. The characteristics of phase transformation of high Nb HTP steel in continuous cooling process were disclosed. The research results have instructional significance to refine austenite grain, prohibit duplex grain structure, obtain ideal microstructure by cooling control.
