| Mechanism Analysis and Control of the Edge Defects on Container Strips of SPA-H |

Abstract The causes of edge defects on container strips produced by FTSR thin slab casting machine in Tonghua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. were analyzed. The edge defects ratio of container strips was effectively controlled by optimization of second cooling water, changing the segments with fail rollers on time, removing scale between segment rollers to decrease torsion of pinch rolls, reducing the soft reduction roller gaps by multiple steps, and controlling w(［Als］) and w(［N］) in the molten steel.
