Abstract According to the rolling behavior of plate mill, a 3D elastic-plastic FEM model using the full restart skill of ANSYS/LS-DYNA was established to study the effect of plate rolling based on a multi-condition and multi-pass simulation. The plate flat shape prediction model of head and tail was modified, and a precision plate flat shape prediction model can be established separately. Based on this model, a MAS method was designed and used in a 2800mm plate mill. The good control results of the MAS method indicate that the plate flat shape prediction model is preciseness.
