Abstract The research on traditional AOD efficient smelting was focused on enhancement of oxygen supply, optimization of improving volume ratio, increasing end hitting rate. Current device should be made full of, and AOD charging structure and oxygen supply should be optimized. Process parameters of AOD should be optimized. Physical heat and chemical heat should be rational used, and efficient smelting of AOD should be realized. Based on mass balance model and energy balance model, the model of AOD efficient smelting was proposed considering process features of AOD steelmaking. The change of tap to tap time with hot metal ratio and scrap steel ratio was simulated. The charging structure was got when tap to tap time was the shortest. The results indicate that the tap to tap time increases with molten iron ratio increasing in AOD steelmaking process with EAF stainless molten iron and BF molten iron. The tap to tap time increases with scrap steel ratio increasing in AOD steelmaking process with EAF stainless molten iron and scrap steel. The tap to tap time increases with scrap steel ratio increasing in AOD steelmaking process with BF molten iron and scrap steel. The tap to tap time with ferrosilicon heating agent is shorter than the time with carbon powder heating agent.
