Abstract A new ultra-high strength stainless steel with ultra-high purity has been successfully developed through the-precipitation hardening of intermetallic compound and carbide and ultra-clean. The results show that its tensile strength[Rm] is 1 940 MPa，and the fracture toughness，[KIC，]is more than 90 MPa·m1/2. Besides，it also shows good fatigue and high-temperature mechanical properties. The corrosion resistance of the steel is equivalent to that of 15-5PH stainless steel under the condition of the marine atmosphere and sea water immersion，which is much better than that of AerMet100 steel at the same strength level. Due to the excellent combination of mechanical and anti-corrison properties，the developed steel is expected to be widely used in the fields of aviation，aerospace，advanced machinery，and nuclear.
