Abstract In order to solve the problem that how to evaluate sintering behaviors with many high temperature reaction property items, comprehensive index of high temperature reaction properties of iron ore fines was put forward based on the comprehensive evaluation method, and the determination of four indicators and sintering tests were used to study and the high temperature reaction properties and sintering behaviors of single ore fines (A, B and C) and their blends. The results show that both the assimilation and fluidity characteristics of blends appear the linear superposition of that of single iron ores except for the self-bonding strength and formation characteristics of liquid phase. Meanwhile, the tumble index of blended iron ores also shows the linear superposition of that of single ores, but the productivity and solid fuel do not. Whether for single or blends, the tumble index and comprehensive index of high temperature reaction properties exhibit credible linear positive correlation, and[R2](the square of correlation coefficient)are up to 0.940 3 and 0.970 2 respectively, whereas the correlation between the productivity or solid fuel and comprehensive index of high temperature reaction properties is poor. The comprehensive evaluation index can well evaluate and predict the tumble index of sinter product, but can not be used to value the productivity and solid fuel effectively.
