Abstract Blast furnace burden distribution is the only way to adjust the original distribution of burden in the furnace. The porosity distribution of the burden layer will have an important impact on the distribution of gas flow. The 1/10 charging model of a real blast furnace is taken as the research object,and the effect of particle shape on porosity distribution of sandpile and burden distribution matrix and stock line level on the radial porosity distribution were simulated by the discrete element method. And the physical parameters of sinter,coke,and pellet were also measured.The results show that the measured parameters are quite different from the data quoted in the literature.The porosity distribution of sandpile has a closed relationship with particle shape.The porosity distribution is affected by the number of particles in the matrix,and the porosity decreases with the increase of the number of distribution circles. The curve of the radial porosity distribution will be affected when the chute angle changes greatly. With the increase of the stock line,the porosity of the bottom of the burden layer increases. There is no obvious evidence of a certain relationship between the particle size segregation and porosity distribution.
