AbstractThe new slagging agent AF3FTM has many similar properties to fluorite. The metallurgical effect of two kinds of slag agent was evaluated by the melting point test in the laboratory, the desulfurization test and the slag viscosity test, and the final industrial experiment. The feasibility of the new slag agent instead of fluorite was verified, which provides reference for further popularization and application of new slag agent. It is found that AF3FTM has the advantage of reducing slag melting point and improving flowability. Compared the AF3FTM slag agent with the fluorite, 15 mass%-25 mass% consumption was saved, which is equivalent to reducing the waste containing fluorine emissions by about 8%-15%. At the same time, the new slag agent is cheaper and has lower silicon content, so enterprises can achieve the goal of reducing raw material costs and reducing pollutant emissions. However, the new type of slag agent will cause white smoke during the test and may increase the erosion of the lining.
