Abstract:The center segregation and porosity are common problems in C82DA steel billets resulting in a failure to meet the product quality rating. By combining the actual experiment and numerical simulation, the influences of superheat and alloying elements content on microstructure of billet are discussed separately. The methods of moving boundary is used to obtain the thickness growth rule of billet shell, and the microstructure of billets is numerically simulated using the CAFé method, and the simulation results agree reasonably well with the experimental data. It is found that low superheat is beneficial for the growth of equiaxed grain and the reduction of grain size;the effects of the content of alloying elements such as C,Si,Mn and Cr on the microstructure of billets have been studied, and the optimistic elements content are determined to optimizing the billets microstructure.
