Structure optimization and transformation of two-strand slab continuous casting tundish

Abstract:As the key equipment in the continuous caster, the tundish plays an important role in ensuring continuous casting production. In order to reduce the residual steel in the tundish during the stop pouring process, improve the metal yield, the two-strand slab continuous casting tundish in a converter workshop is taken as a model, and the temperature field and the flow field in the tundish was studied by numerical simulation. According to the research results, the tundish structure is optimized, which provides the optimization scheme for the tundish structure transformation on site, and the masonry transformation and application tracking of the new tundish are introduced. The results show that optimization of the tundish structure can reduce the amount of residual steel. After optimization, the amount of residual steel is deceased from 16-18 t to 4-5 t. Thus the metal yield is significantly improved.
