Abstract A super-flat shaped submerged entry nozzle (SEN) was developed for Laigang Beam blank Caster to achieve full protection casting. The nozzle has bilateral pore structure at the end of work outlet, and its diversion mode has been optimized by different casting speed and cross-section, which based on the molten steel flow of mold, free surface fluctuation and a comprehensive metallurgical behavior such as heat transfer, solidification etc. Thermal production test show it is feasible that the use of single flat shape SEN beam blank continuous casting to achieve full protection of casting. The SEN design had significant mold pool surface stability and the promotion of the role of mould powder melting, life Initial meet the requirement, both inside and outside the slab quality significantly improved.
